MUTATION ON STAGE

(A DOCUMENTARY NAMED DESIRE)

"Mutation on Stage" (AKA "A Documentary Named Desire") is a film essay about the play "A Streetcar Named Desire" directed by Alfredo Castro. Its premiere at the National Theater in the midst of a social explosion, is suspended by the death of Alejandro Sieveking and Bélgica Castro who are veiled on the stage with the scenography of the play. After two performances, the play must be suspended again due to the pandemic. In the indefinite suspension, desire becomes desire on hold and becomes also time to reflect on the place of theatre in a world that is falling apart.
